Background and Rationale

The Wisdom Enrichment Foundation (WEFOUND) is a non-profit Islamic organization, with a global mission to present the authentic teachings of Islam to mankind for the pleasure of Allah the Almighty.   In line with this mission, its founders have written and distributed (free and without copyright) a number of books, booklets and articles to selected individuals as well as public and university libraries worldwide.

WEFOUND had operated for more than seven months (from June 1999 to January 2000) its own Wisdom Enrichment Forum Global Email Network through muslimsonline email list server. This global Da'wah  is now being continued by email using the WEFOUND FREE email service.  Alhamdullillah, WEFOUND through this email list service is again distributing free articles/lessons on Islam and Da’wah based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah worldwide.

All lectures (conducted both in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and in the Philippines)  were  based on the Qur’an and the SunnahThe participants, in general,  found the lectures not only interesting but also very relevant to their needs and success.

In addition, to the above programs, WEFOUND has also supported and co-organized the International Council for Islamic Information (ICII) Da’wah Workshop in Southeast Asia held in the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City last August 16-20, 1999. Representatives of Da’wah organizations from Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Korea and the Philippines attended this event in addition to the vice-chairman and the Executive Secretary of the RISEAP. During this workshop, the existing Da’wah situation of the participating countries was analyzed.  Among other topics presented and discussed were the "Mobilization of Students and Youth on the Campus for Da’wah", "Mobilization of Women for Da’wah", "Favorable and Unfavorable Conditions Affecting Da’wah in the SEA Region", "Bilateral Cooperation Between Da'wah Organizations in the Region", "Presentation of Successful Da’wah Programs", "Da’wah with Hikmah", "Strategic Planning for Da’wah", "Towards Self Reliance in Da’wah Financing and the Use of Media for Da’wah".

WEFOUND organizers have also played active role since 1996 in supporting some groups and institutions in Riyadh in the organization of lectures and Da’wah training programs.  Such programs were designed for expatriates from various countries and conducted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.  Specifically, the WEFOUND Director General actively organized and conducted the following international lectures for women expatriates in Riyadh:

1.    Short-Term Course in Islamic Studies, sponsored by the World Assembly of Muslim Youth Women’s Branch, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, June-October 1996.

2.      Lecture Series  on Islam sponsored by the World Assembly of Muslim Youth Women’s Branch, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia,  September-October 1996.

 5.      International Women Third Lecture Series on Islam, sponsored by the Ministry of Defense Religious Department, Community Office for Call and Guidance, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, January  9, 1998.

Moreover,  the WEFOUND Director General has  also actively helped in the organization (both as a resource person/lecturer and a member of the organizing committee) of the yearly Da'wah Training Program for Women sponsored and conducted by the  Umm Salamah Support Group.  This Support Group, which is an affiliate of the WAMY Women's Committee in Riyadh,  has been organizing Da'wah Training Programs and other public lectures on Islam from 1995-1999.

She has also conducted the Da'wah According to the Qur'an and the Sunnah Training for Women sponsored by the Batha Office for Call and Guidance Women's Section, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, August 3-24, 2001.

Alhamdullillah, many participants have benefited from the mentioned seminars and forums, and they have expressed their keen interests to participate in similar programs in the future. The organization of international seminars/lectures and forums are indeed effective. It appeals to participants especially when they receive handouts and certificates for their professional growth and advancements (additional credits for their promotion in their respective works).  However, conducting training programs benefit only the trainees, who are normally small in number because of the underlying  costs, time, efforts  and other related constraints.  Where no handouts (copies of the speeches/lectures) are distributed, the participants have no way to refresh their knowledge about the seminars.

To effectively educate more peoples from different countries at minimal costs, WEFOUND has started implementing the World Islamic Service for Developing Outstanding Muslims (WISDOM) International Islamic (Distance) Learning Program in March 2001.  WISDOM learning program specifically serves the purpose of educating Muslims (as well as interested non-Muslims) worldwide knowledge of Islam based on the Qur'an and the Sunnah through distance  self-study modular approach.   Alhamdulillah, this program has been made into reality with the kind support  and encouragements of various Muslim scholars, du'at and publishers from different Muslim organizations who share the WEFOUND’s mission of spreading the true message of Islam based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah to mankind for the pleasure of Allah the Almighty.

WISDOM  learning program answers the need of many Muslims who lack knowledge of Islam based on the Qur'an and the Sunnah because they did not have the opportunities to: 1) have formal Islamic education, 2)  attend Islamic lectures, forums and seminars, 3) read books and other reading materials on Islam,  4) listen to radio and television programs on Islam, 5) buy books, booklets, magazines and other reading materials on Islam, 6) purchase other learning media (e.g.,  electronic books, CDs, Videos and cassette tapes) on  Islam,  and/or 7)   have access to the Islamic reading materials available in the Internet (i.e., Islamic websites).   Furthermore, the WISDOM program corrects the misconceptions of non-Muslims about Islam and at the same time guides Muslims who do not follow the Sunnah of the Prophet (s.a.w.) and his Companions  to have the right aqeedah (Islamic belief).

For those who have had the opportunities to learn Islam in various means, the WISDOM learning program will further enrich their knowledge of  Islam based on authentic sources. This is because the electronic books and/or CD-ROMs for all the learning modules comprise of various selected books, booklets and articles on Islam according to  the Qur'an and authentic Ahadith (and Sunnah).   Furthermore, the program will make them more active and hence better Muslims, insha Allah, by knowing the arts and techniques of effective writing and public speaking according to Islamic principles and modern techniques not contrary to Islam.  Knowing that Islam enjoins mankind for  a well-balanced life, WISDOM Program also includes useful knowledge on grammar, effective writing and composition, public speaking,  leadership, management and marketing tools and techniques for development and success.  All these are designed to develop the participants' total personality, necessary for them to attain supreme success.

Vision and Objectives

It is part of the WEFOUND’s vision that qualified and successful participants to World Islamic Service for Developing Outstanding Muslims (WISDOM) learning program will become better and righteous believers as defined in the Qur’an and the Sunnah.  In this way, they will perform their mission in life (to worship Allah) and achieve  ultimate success in the  eternal life Hereafter.  To realize this vision, WEFOUND-WISDOM aims to develop the participants’ reading, comprehension, writing and speaking skills necessary for them to be successful Du’at in the future.  In this way they will be of best service to Allah the Almighty who will reward them the eternal bliss in the Hereafter – that is to be able to see Him:

“…Allah has promised the believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow to dwell therein and beautiful mansions in gardens of everlasting bliss.  But the greatest bliss is the Good Pleasure of Allah: that is the supreme success.” (Qur'an 9:71-72)

In line with the above vision and goal, the WISDOM learning modular program has been designed to achieve the following desirable objectives for the sole pleasure of Allah the Almighty:

1.      To acquaint the participants with authentic knowledge, right belief and righteous deeds that are necessary  for attaining success;

2.      To create consciousness among the participants on the beliefs, practices or deeds that are contrary to Islamic teachings and be able to avoid them;

3.  To develop sincerity to Allah, God-consciousness, God-fearing or in short,  purification of the souls among participants in order to prepare themselves for the eternal Life-Hereafter and thus, attain supreme success in Paradise;

4.      To educate the participants with the ideal Muslim characters and manners as defined in the Qur’an and the Sunnah;

5.  To acquaint them of the life and works of the Prophet (s.a.w.) and be able to learn lessons from them;

6.      To build self-confidence among participants by teaching them the art of effective writing and public speaking based on Islamic teachings, as well as contemporary principles and methods acceptable in Islam;

7.      To teach the participants in presenting Islam to non-Muslims based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah;

8.      To acquaint the participants how to act as moderators, evaluate speakers and conduct lectures, seminars and/or conferences;

9.      To encourage the participants to translate into action their knowledge of the Qur’an and the Sunnah and share it to others;

10.      To strengthen the participants’ social and cultural perspectives by becoming members of the World Islamic Service for Developing Outstanding Muslims (WISDOM) and thereby develop friendly relations, cooperation and unity among themselves as one Muslim Ummah; and

11.      To make WISDOM as an active organization in unifying Muslims to be active in propagating Allah’s Message based on correct Aqeedah as defined in the Qur’an and the Sunnah.

Nature, Scope and Methodology

The WISDOM  program  provides interested individual participants (including non-Muslims) who are literate (be able to read, write and understand English) from all parts of the world authentic Islamic knowledge.  Such important knowledge will develop them, insha Allah, to be god-fearing and practicing Muslims and be successful especially in the eternal world to come. This can be attained by developing further their reading skills and interest on Islamic books, booklets and articles based on authentic Islamic materials (the Qur’an and the Sunnah).  This is in line with the first Surah (Chapter 96) that Allah the Almighty revealed to His Messenger (s.a.w.)  for the guidance of mankind.  The Surah Al ‘Alaq pertains to reading in the Name of our Rabb  (Only Creator, Cherisher and Sustainer).  Allah, the Exalted, commands us to read, to quote:

“Read! In the Name of your Rabb (Cherisher and Sustainer) Who created — created man, out of a leech-like clot.  Read!  And your Rabb is Most Bountiful. He Who taught (the use of) the  Pen, taught man that which he knew not...”  (Qur'an, 96:1-5)

The WEFOUND-WISDOM program adopts the modular approach to learning.  Islamic knowledge as well as relevant skills and techniques that will develop participants to attain success have been selected and divided by modules.  Each learning module aims to attain specific objectives that are all in line with the development and success of the participants towards realizing the ultimate goal in life.  All the reading materials in each module are selected based on their authenticity (as defined in the Qur’an and the Sunnah) and relevance in the application of such knowledge.  Alhamdullillah, Muslim scholars/authors and publishers especially  two famous publishing companies that produce Islamic books and other Da'wah materials based on the Qur'an and the Sunnah in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, namely: the Darusalam Publishers and Distributors and the International Islamic Publishing House (IIPH) have given WEFOUND the permission to include some of their publications which are very relevant to the learning modules designed for this program.    In addition to the books coming from the said two publishers, WEFOUND also gathered books, articles and other reading materials based on authentic sources from the Internet.  With these, it is expected that, after learning all the modules, insha Allah, participants: 1.)  Will have ample and correct knowledge of Islam based on authentic sources in order to have the right Aqeedah (Faith);  2.) practice said authentic knowledge and be righteous, 3.) share that knowledge to others (meaning, be active in Da’wah);  and 4.) be patient in the application and sharing of Islamic knowledge  to the rest of mankind. In other words, participants will make use of their time wisely for the pleasure of Allah based on the following Qur’anic injunctions:

“By the time, verily man is in loss, except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and join (together) in the mutual enjoining of Truth, and of patience and constancy.”  (Qur'an, 103:1-3)

Learning Modules

To minimize the cost of the program (in terms of the reproduction and mailing of materials), WEFOUND-WISDOM has developed all the learning materials for each module into electronic books and/or CDs.  The contents of the e-books are designed to increase the learners' interest in reading and studying the materials and at the same time to make it easier for them to quote from the authentic sources in the organization/preparation of the requirements for each program.

When they finish all the following learning modules,  participants will be able to make use of the books, articles and other learning materials in the e-books as useful sources in becoming effective writers and public speakers on Islam according to the Qur'an and the Sunnah, Insha Allah:

Certificates

1. Certificates of Participation and Requirements

The Wisdom Enrichment Foundation will issue Certificates of Participation to successful participants after the completion of each learning module.  To receive certificates for each six modules,  you have to: 1) take and pass the examinations online and 2) write a reaction paper or an essay or an article on any Islamic topic relevant to each learning module

 2. Certificates of Excellence

Certificates of Excellence will be given to participants who will successfully complete all the learning modules with the total average rating of “Very Good” or “Excellent” for all the requirements in the ten modules.   The certificates of participation and excellence will distinguish them from those who do not attend Islamic programs.  Allah the Almighty says:

“...Say: ‘Are those equal, those who know and those who do not know?  It is those who are endowed with understanding that receive admonition.’”  (Qur’an, 39:9)

Credits for Each Learning Module

All learning modules require maximum completion of five months and successful participants earn 5 months credit certificate for each learning module.    All certificates will indicate the number of months required for the completion of a module, which entitle participants to advance for professional growth in their respective jobs/works. This is the reason why the titles of all the modules are in line with the concepts: development and success.  WEFOUND recognizes that Islam goes for a well-balanced life. Allah the Most Gracious says:

 “It is no crime in you if you seek of the bounty of your Rabb (during pilgrimage).  Then when you pour down from (Mount) Arafat, celebrate the praises of Allah at the Sacred Monument, and celebrate His praises as He has directed you even though before this you went astray.”  (Qur’an, 2:198)

“But seek the wealth which Allah has bestowed on you, the Home of the Hereafter, nor forget your portion in this World. But do good, as Allah has been good to you, and seek not (occasions for) mischief in the land; for Allah loves not those who do mischief.”  (Qur'an 28:77)

“And when the prayer is finished, then may you disperse through the land, and seek of the Bounty of Allah: and remember Allah frequently that you may prosper.”   (Qur'an 62:10)

As part of Allah’s divine guidance, we read in the Qur’an the following brief but comprehensive supplication for a well-balanced life:

“Our Rabb! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter.  And save us from the torment of the Fire!”  (Qur'an 2:201)

Note that participants who give extra time and efforts may finish each  modules within few months or earlier before the deadline.  Those who fail to submit their requirements within the given period for some valid reasons or unavoidable circumstances are given additional one month to read the learning modules and finish their requirements.  Still they will receive certificates bearing five months credits for all the learning modules, except for Effective Writing and Communication, which is ten months.  After the completion of the requirements for a particular module, participants may proceed to the next module and so on until the last module.  To reiterate, those who devote more time to read and understand all the reading/learning  materials and comply with the requirements can finish all the learning modules in few months.  They will subsequently receive their corresponding certificates few days/weeks after the WISDOM Learning Program Evaluation Committee will finish checking their  requirements.

Publication of  Participants' Outputs

Well-written papers submitted by the participants will be published in this website and/or at its weekly global e-mail Da’wah network.  This will encourage participants and other Muslims to write scholarly articles on Islam; and thus, be active in Da'wah (at least through writing) for the sole pleasure of Allah the Almighty.  In this way, participants develop themselves toward attaining ultimate success in the eternal world to come.  (Note, if you want to subscribe to the weekly global e-mail Da’wah network (this is FREE to all), please contact us.

WISDOM Membership

Participants who successfully finish at least five of the modules are invited to be members of the World Islamic Service for Developing Outstanding Muslims (WISDOM).  If they abide with the goals and objectives of the Service, they will be given Certificates of Membership.  WISDOM  strives to attain the following:
