The DBA student is expected to conduct a an appropriate doctoral thesis on any research area relevant to strategic marketing management and value-based marketing, strategic business intelligence issues, visionary/strategic planning, supply chain management, CRM - customer relationship management, business administration in an Islamic context, and strategic management in an Islamic context.
This course represents the culmination of an MBA candidate's research. Submission of the thesis represents the completion of the final requirement for the MBA degree. The candidate may opt to write a comprehensive business case study. The case should deal with how a business organization will improve its functions and activities in order to reduce overall costs, provide more efficient use of resources, and better support customers. It introduces the notion of process orientation, of concentrating on and rethinking end-to-end activities that create value for customers, while removing unnecessary, non-value added work. The Business Case study must have a framework for planning and management of the business change, and focus on obtaining management commitment and approval for investment in business change, through rationale for the investment. The viability and implementation of the business solutions offered need to be monitored against the Business Case.
This course explores relevant policies issues and the development of strategy for the business organization. Topics include all policy issues concerning the structural characteristics of an industry (e.g. market share, entry barriers, product market segmentation) and the performance ( e.g. profitability, growth) of firms competing in the industry. Emphasis is placed on the application of theoretical concepts and models to actual policy formulation.
The course deals with the well-known multinational theories and paradigms, and discusses their relevance to the real business world. Relevant topics include the economic and strategic management approaches to the study of multinational business operations; as well as the growing globalization of international business.
This course deals with the basic and applied principles of marketing research and the new paradigm of busines intelligence. Relevant topics include trend analysis, understanding market trends and impact on business and strategy; state-of-the-art market research methods, the research process and business awareness; external analysis and benchmarking; business focused market intelligence; consulting in business market intelligence; managing the sales process of business intelligence; business intelligence officers as co-creators and change agents.
The course covers the scope and responsibilities of the production/operation functions with emphasis on the planning, organizing and assembling of resources in a production or service enterprise; and on directing and controlling production operations. The topics include plant lay-out, time-and-motion study, synthetic time standard analysis of manufacturing process, quality control, impact of automation, and purchasing techniques in response to change in market demand. Plant visit and case analysis enhance the course. The class shall come up with an enhancement seminar.
This course focuses on the practical application of marketing techniques and the management of a company's marketing resources and activities. Relevant topics include marketing research and analysis; marketing strategy; implementation planning; project, process, and vendor management; organizational management and leadership; reporting, measurement, feedback and control systems.
The course focuses on interpreting company accounts; financial planning and management of the working capital and long-term financial position of a business; accounting for management decisions; and shareholder value analysis.
BA 204 focuses on the basic and applied aspects of operations research and decision-making process. Relevant topics include optimization, linear programming, decision analysis, systems analysis, systems thinking and some overview of stochastic processes.
This course applies microeconomic analytical tools to specific business decisions. As such, it fills in the gap between economic theory and economics in practice. It exposes the students to the quantitative techniques of optimizing business decisions given the firm's objectives and given constraints imposed by scarcity. Topics include managerial economic principles, risk analysis, production analysis, pricing analysis and capital budgeting.
This course is about Managerial Accounting.
This course (BA 201 - Organizational Theory) deals with human behavior in business organizations.
The course deals with the basic and applied principles of management information system. Topics include database handling and management, online analytical process, planning and control system, simulation modelling, as well as the implementation of an integrated system and latest techniques in managing information. This course also exposes the students to the enterprise type of information system -- using dependable business intelligence software and decision support system for a business enterprise. Enterprise Information Systems provide a technology platform that enable organizations to integrate and coordinate their business processes. They provide a single system that is central to the organization and ensure that information can be shared across all functional levels and management hierarchies. Enterprise systems are invaluable in eliminating the problem of information fragmentation caused by multiple information systems in an organization, by creating a standard data structure.
The course MGT 506 deals with managing global resources, and it is seminar-type.

This course deals with financial analysis in relation to procurement -- analyzing and interpreting financial performance including ratios, trends and comparisons to identify problems and opportunities; learning about international differences in accounting; benchmarking financial performance; cash flow analysis. It also includes accounting for management decisions (forecasting and budgeting future performance; managing customer profitability as well as product and service costs; project appraisal and valuation using net present value and discounted cash flow techniques; applying sensitivity risk; choosing and appropriate discount rate to reflect project risk. Customer value analysis will also be covered in this course.
The course, Management of Organizations, is an independent study, which can be taken at any time during the program, but once started, has to be finished within 6 months. Independent study means that the student has to follow instructions in the syllabus and has to complete all assignments, readings, cases, tests etc. accordingly.
IB 209 is all about managing the International Control Process.
IB 212 is all about Information Technology Management. This is equivalent to MBA 212 which exposes the students to the enterprise type of information system and technology management.
This course is all about international finance and investment.
This course focuses on the theories and applications of international economics.
This course deals with the principles and applications of Managerial Accounting as practiced internationally.
This course exposes the students to the theories and applications of International Management, as well as relevant business cases.
This deals with the general theories and applications of international marketing. The students will be exposed to relevant business cases in international marketing.
This is the same as MBA 211 Theories of International Business.

The above two courses are also required for MBA students. To be admitted into the MBA program one is expected to have a Bachelor's degree from a good university, as determined by the WISHES Management.
